New Classroom Modern Russian Port Infrastructure in Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping
On the 1st of September 2019 in Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping was opened a new classroom Modern Russian Port Infrastructure. The event attended administration of Admiral Makarov University, management representatives of port Bronka, as well as students and cadets of the university.
New classroom is equipped with an interactive model of Multifunctional Sea Cargo Complex Bronka with detailed miniatures of berths, container, ro-ro and general cargo storage areas, container freight stations and other objects required for cargo handling on sea, river, rail and motor transport. Large schemes and pictures of port equipment presented in the classroom shall help in organization of learning process and training of high-skilled operating personnel for sea transport.
“We are positive that new visual aids will provide cadets and students of the university an easier understanding of modern Russian ports infrastructure. Now they have an opportunity to learn operation technologies for different cargo types, as well as technical characteristics of port handling equipment, to feel the range and atmosphere of port operations” – said Technical Director of port Bronka, Andrey Blinov.

Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping is the oldest transport university in Russia playing key role in maritime education. It deals with training of high-qualified specialists for water transport branch.
The university is a branch academic organization providing bachelor, master and postgraduates studying programs, as well as studying programs for operational and intermediate vocational education specialties in frames of 12 integrated groups for training and specialties. Admiral Makarov University has over 14 000 cadets and students. The university provides more then 3000 specialists, bachelors and masters every year. Multifunctional Sea Cargo Complex (MSCC) Bronka (port operator – Fenix LLC) is the only one deep water port in St. Petersburg having a possibility to accommodate vessels with length up to 347 m, width up to 50 m and draft up to 13 m. Port Bronka is handling containers, ro-ro and general cargo. The port was launched into operation on the 15th of December 2015. Nowadays yearly capacity of MSCC Bronka is about 1.9 mln TEU* and more than 260 000 units of automotive and specialty vehicles. *TEU is a common capacity measure equal to one 20 ft. container and about 34 cubic meters.
